Here’s some fun TMNT facts!

..5/5/84 was the date of the official premiere of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1.

..Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird debuted their million (billion?) dollar comic book franchise at New Hampshire’s very first comic book convention, The Portsmouth Mini-Con.

..The Portsmouth Mini-Con was held at the Howard Johnson’s (now the Best Western) on the traffic circle in Portsmouth, NH. The function room at the current facility is exactly the same as it was in 1984 (with some cosmetic upgrades).

..Kevin & Peter spent their own money on a full page ad in The Comics Buyers Guide to promote the event.

..No one attending the show had any idea that they were purchasing a comic book that would one day command prices upwards of 10k.

..Kevin & Peter were NOT the headline guests for the show.

..Ralph (yes, Jetpack Ralph – he’s the guys that founded the show), made Kevin & Peter pay for their table.

..Ralph once owned 250 copies of TMNT #1.

..Ralph is dumb and traded the bulk of them away for Bill Willingham’s Elementals #1.

..Ralph is QUITE DUMB.

But Kevin is still friends with Ralph and once in a while Ralph gets to ride on Kevin’s coat tails one more time. This is one of those times. Kevin has asked Ralph to join him for some online fun on 5/5 and you all can listen in…details coming soon
