Join us every Monday for Commander at Jetpack

It’s finally happening.  Commander nights at Jetpack are here.

Mondays from 5:30 – 8:30.  If we can grow the community we will stay open even later for bigger & better events.

Commander Variant 11/ 28: Pauper EDH (PDH)

Reminder to everyone that our next Commander Variant event is this coming Monday, 11/28.
This variant is honestly my favorite EDH variant and I would love to see some people come and play who have yet to try it. I do have one spare deck that I would be willing to let someone enter with.
  1. Details: We will be playing Pauper EDH as our next Commander Variant. Entry is $5 (all of which goes to the prize pool). It will most likely be a two round tournament. The winners of the first round will battle it out for 1st place in a final match. The event will begin at 5:30pm. Please give yourself some extra time to manage parking (back lot is still under construction) and for purchasing entry.
Sign-ups: If you plan on attending please respond to this post with a confirmation. We are unable to run certain events if the numbers aren’t high enough. Also, confirmation before hand helps myself and the store better plan for the event.
Rules: We will be playing with the standard Pauper EDH rules, published by PDH Homebase:
All deck archetypes and strategies are welcome, as long as the deck meets the Pauper EDH rules.
*We will be hosting Commander Variant games once a month on the last Monday of each month. Keep your eyes peeled and notifications on as we will be posting the events ahead of time and possibly requesting sign ups.
Extra Resources:
  1. Magic: The Gathering Companion App: on Android and Apple, this app will allow you to join and track in store events, giving you a live reading of the event pairs and standing. The app also has a built in life counter!
  2. Casual Commander Night: Jetpack Comics Facebook group: here is the link to the Facebook group where we will be posting any new information about Casual Commander Nights at Jetpack Comics, including the sign ups for our once a month Commander draft.
  3. Casual Commander Info and House Rules: here is the link to the Casual Commander info page on the Jetpack Comics website.…/mtg-commander-mondays…/

Casual Commander! – Casual will always be welcome, even during other Commander events.

  • All skill levels welcome.
  • Focus on fun and social EDH.

House rules:

    1. Fun For All.
  • Be mindful of playing attritious cards: land destruction, turn stealing, solitaire decks, etc.
  • Rule 0: talk to your playgroup about power level and type of gameplay
  • Be welcoming to new players and ready to switch up play groups regularly
      • Playtest/proxy cards welcome
    1. Stay Casual.
      • We ask that players refrain from infinite combo strategies (this means a game plan that actively plays towards/tutors for fast game ending combos)
      • We ask that players refrain from easily exploited fast mana (mana crypt, mox diamond, chrome mox, sol ring, gemstone caverns, etc.).
        • Yes, sol ring is fast mana! Although to many it is considered a “staple”; it is also responsible for many lopsided games. Our hope is for players to use the empty slot in their decks to add other fun, synergistic cards.
        • Exceptions (due to severe limitations): Jeweled Lotus, Mox Amber, Lotus Petal
          • Jeweled Lotus and Lotus Petal are reasonable/restrictive rituals when not used to actively combo
          • Mox Amber is a fairly restrictive card that limits early game exploitation
    2. Fair Magic
  • We ask that all players remain above board.
  • If there are any rules questions please speak to the judge.
      1. If there are any concerns on a player’s honesty please speak to the shop.
      2. If a player is ignoring the house rules please speak to the judge.

We’re starting out with a casual Magic Commander meet up each week and moving into other events in the coming months.
Casual play has always been the cornerstone of Commander at Jetpack and will always be encouraged
